Financial Assistant 4
The College of Education seeks highly qualified applicants for the position of Financial Assistant 4 in the Department of Education Policy Studies (EPS). This person works cooperatively with the EPS department leadership in managing financial activities of the department, and provides administrative support to the director of the Center for the Study of Higher Education. This person works directly with faculty on all aspects of research grants and contracts administration, including pre and post award activities; with graduate students on assistantship processing, travel reimbursement and grant submission. Typical job responsibilities include the processing of travel reimbursements, purchase orders, purchase card reconciliation, journal vouchers, SRFCs, CRFN, ROCR's, IDCCs, salary distribution sheets, research and problem solving. Run financial reports to retrieve budget balances and forecast expenses. Process hiring paperwork for wage payroll and work-study appointments, and bi-weekly payroll. Process graduate assistantship appointments. Establish, monitor and oversee general accounts in conjunction with the Administrative Coordinator. Provide financial reporting, consultation and recommendations to faculty and department leadership to assist in overall financial management of grants and contracts. Monitor endowments and gift funds for appropriate spending. Keep up-to-date with current university policies and procedures. Prior experience with a financial or business information mainframe such as IBIS, Employee Reimbursement System (ERS), FIT, iTwo and eBuy is preferred. Penn State ACES certification or experience in research administration is preferred. The successful candidate must be able to communicate effectively and professionally, have excellent organizational skills, be attentive to details, and have the ability to adapt to changes in systems and procedures. The ability to work both independently and as a member of a team is essential, along with strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task Typically requires a High School diploma or higher plus five years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
