Job Description: The Accounting Office at the University at Albany seeks a Director of State Accounting. Responsibilities will include:
Management responsibilities for the Revenue and Account Receivable, Accounts Payable, and Procurement and Travel Card Units of the Accounting Office
Compile information from appropriate campus offices and develop campus revenue projection targets
Take a leading role in discussions and enrollment strategy development through presentation of data and trend information
Early reporting of any abnormalities
Compile necessary information from appropriate campus offices and develop the campus disbursement projection
Present data and send information to appropriate campus officials and SUNY System Administration
Present alternatives as necessary to meet disbursement ceilings and campus objectives
Provide necessary training, supervision, performance plans and evaluations of all subordinates in a timely manner
In conjunction with SUNY Central Administration and the campus Budget Office, ensure that adequate allocation levels are available in all funds and major objects so that orders and payments can be processed and liquidated timely
As the campus financial system and state financial system security administrator, process all requests, deletions and reactivation to these systems in an accurate and timely manner
Ensure that the annual campus financial reporting package (CFRP) is completed accurately and submitted to SUNY on a timely basis
Actively promote diversity and inclusion within the Office of State Accounting and University at large through daily actions, hiring actions, and office environment
Requirements: Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or other business related field from a college or university accredited by a U.S Dept. of Education or an internationally recognized accrediting body.
Three years of experience in a business office environment
Proficient in Microsoft Office suite; proficiency in Excel, Word and Outlook
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple project and tasks simultaneously
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team and direct staff
Demonstrated experience working with a culturally diverse population
Master's Degree in Accounting, Finance or other business related field from a college or university accredited by a U.S. Dept. of Education or an internationally recognized accrediting body
Five years experience working within higher education
Experience with New York State or SUNY Financial Systems
