Princeton University seeks an accomplished leader and subject-matter expert for the newly configured role of Associate Vice President (AVP) for Treasury Services. Reporting to the Vice President for Finance & Treasurer, who in turn reports to the President, the AVP will be a member of the Office of Finance and Treasury's senior leadership team. The AVP will provide leadership in a broadly defined treasury position and will collaborate with colleagues across the University to develop and review the strategic financial plans, policies, and business processes needed to ensure that Princeton remains a financially strong world-class institution committed to putting itself “in the nation's service and the service of humanity.”

The AVP provides vision and leadership in the management of Princeton's financial assets and debt including of its integrated approach to capital planning and balance-sheet management along with cash management, debt management, working-capital investment management, and loan and mortgage functions. With a staff of 17, the position leads the Capital Planning and Financing department, which includes the Capital Budget and Debt group, the Cash and Investment Services department, and the Mortgage Services group.
The AVP will join the Office of Finance and Treasury at an exciting time. Princeton is actively implementing priorities outlined in its strategic framework, guided by ambitious campus and capital plans and supported by a robust fundraising campaign. The University is in excellent financial health, with an annual operating budget of just over $2 billion and net assets of approximately $27 billion.
The AVP must sustain a superior level of strategic decision-making and cross-organizational leadership; be committed to strategic planning and partnership throughout the University and within the Office of Finance & Treasury; and have exceptional discretion in handling sensitive and confidential information. The AVP will maintain a strong focus on stakeholders throughout the University, while offering innovative problem solving through counsel, new technologies, and redesigned processes. Key partners include Facilities, Princeton University Investment Company, Development, Athletics, and the offices of the Provost, the Executive Vice President, the General Counsel, and the Dean of the Faculty. The AVP will also support the work of the Trustee Finance Committee and will manage Princeton's relationships with banks and financial advisors.
The successful candidate will have:
A bachelor's degree in finance or a related field (other majors considered with relevant experience)
Experience with capital markets and funding capital plans
Experience with technology and systems that support debt and cash management
Commitment to the University's teaching and research mission.
A master's degree is preferred, as is at least 10 years of experience in finance or treasury-related fields and experience in higher education or not-for-profit settings.
