The University of Tennessee Office of Audit and Compliance is recruiting for a Principal Auditor position within internal audit located in Martin, Tennessee.
Department Overview: The Office of Audit and Compliance is a system-wide resource for the University of Tennessee, reporting directly to the Audit and Compliance Committee of the UT Board of Trustees. The Office helps the University achieve its mission by providing objective, independent, evaluations to reduce risk and improve operations.
Principal Auditor: Summary of Essential Job Functions: Responsibilities include leading and performing assigned audits, reviews, consulting advisory projects, investigations, and other projects that provide objective and independent evaluations to reduce the university's risk and improve its operations. The Principal Auditor primarily conducts projects autonomously. Occasionally, the Principal Auditor will join with project teams and perform duties as assigned by the project's in-charge or supervisor or may lead projects as the project in-charge or supervisor. The Principal Auditor serves as a resource to the audit leadership team and campus management providing guidance and knowledge based on years of audit experience.
The Principal Auditor position includes the following job functions:
*project planning - development of detailed risk analyses to define project objectives, scope and work programs, and ability to handle multiple ongoing projects and independently establish priorities to meet deadlines; *field work execution and documentation - various aspects of project management, data collection and analysis, and preparation of thorough, well organized workpapers; *issue identification and resolution - development of observations, associated risks, and actionable recommendations; *client communication and reporting during various aspects of projects; *consulting and advisory services - providing guidance to various levels of university management and potentially serving on various department and/or university committees; and *quality assurance and improvement activities - reviewing workpapers and reports, performing project evaluations, and participating in department planning and/or improvement of office practices.
The Principal Auditor will perform work for university operations statewide and occasional travel, approximately 15%, is required.
