Germanna Community College seeks a full-time Institutional Research (IR) Analyst to support the institution's commitment to data-driven decision-making. The Office of Institutional Effectiveness produces reports for both external agencies and internal constituents. The IR Analyst will play an important role in extracting data, ensuring that it is accurate, analyzing it, and delivering results in a timely manner. The IR Analyst will also assist in the development of dashboards that will provide updates to campus staff and faculty on key performance indicators. This position is primarily located in the Locust Grove area of Orange county and travel to other campus locations may be occasionally required.
Maintains current, accurate information about the college and its service areas by maintaining relevant database and spreadsheets to track institutional effectiveness and longitudinal trends
Assists with weekly updates of college-wide dashboard
Coordinates data reporting and analysis by completing and submitting on time required federal, SCHEV, VCCS and IPEDS reports
Conducts reoccurring and ad hoc surveys and evaluations
Responds to internal and external requests for information
Produces periodic research briefs and an annual Report of Institutional Effectiveness
Additional Information: This is a 12-month classified position
Salary Range: $55,000-$60,000 per year with full state benefits (state pay practices apply)
Working knowledge of relational databases and SQL
Advanced computer skills, with expertise using Excel for manipulation, organization, analysis, and visualization of complex datasets, including a high level of familiarity with Power Pivot and Pivot Tables. Ability to retrieve, analyze, and present data in meaningful formats (tables, charts, graphs, etc.)
Excellent oral/written communication skills, a background in data analysis, and working knowledge of essential social research and planning methodologies
One to three years previous social and/or education research experience
Direct experience with data extraction, educational research models, statistical software packages, survey construction and institutional planning
Proficiency with MS Office programs including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Access
Master's degree with experience and coursework in survey research, statistics, analysis and assessment or equivalent experience
Proficiency with specialized research-related software, for example, SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences), SAS and R or related software.
Proficiency with the development of queries in Peoplesoft
