Duke University, one of the nation’s leading research institutions, seeks nominations and applications for the position of Executive Vice President (EVP). Reporting directly to the President and working with senior leaders and trustees to advance the mission of the university, the EVP is involved in key strategic decisions and oversees a complex financial and business operation. Specifically, the EVP is responsible for the budget, financial affairs, human resources, information technology, campus planning, maintenance and construction, procurement, debt, audit, safety and security, and auxiliary services of Duke University.
This is a critically important appointment for Duke University. The next EVP will be a vital partner to academic, administrative, health system, and community leaders in the development and execution of the institution’s strategy and the fulfillment of its mission. The EVP must couple a deep commitment to academic and research excellence with significant and sophisticated technical and managerial experience. The EVP should also demonstrate an ability to lead diverse teams with trust and transparency, to work collaboratively with other senior leaders, and to provide forward-thinking strategic financial counsel.
