The Director for Finance is responsible for the leadership and management of all accounting and finance functions within the Finance department and the operations for the College Store auxiliary enterprise.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
managing all accounting, budget and financial reporting aspects for the College and the Harford Community College Foundation (HCCF)
providing leadership and direction for the Finance Department
managing the operating budget cycle
maintaining and improving business processes within Banner Finance and Banner Accounts Receivable
prepare annual financial statements in preparation for independent audit
establishing relationships with vendors
evaluating emerging technologies
focusing on the student experience related to the financial services of the College
staying up-to-date with state and federal laws and regulations to ensure compliance
Other duties include serving as the data steward for all financial records; compliance with federal, state and local laws and regulations as well as College policies and procedures, documenting and ensuring necessary internal controls are in place; preparing fiscal year-end financial statements; functioning as a second level supervisor to handle any customer or student issues; conducting cost/benefit analysis of investments and additional resources for the College; state and county reporting; and evaluating and managing projects, processes and new vendors.
This is a full-time administrator position reporting to the Vice President for Finance and Administration.
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is required.
Seven to nine years of relevant experience is required, including:
experience in managing external audit engagements and developing and maintaining internal controls to minimize risk
experience in budget development, including analyzing budget proposals, utilizing projections and modeling to determine availability of funds
experience providing strategic-level oversight of a finance/accounting group, to include goal setting at the organizational level
experience implementing, maintaining, and upgrading account information systems using report tools (Banner preferred)
experience working across departments to develop and implement initiatives and projects across an organization
experience in preparing year-end financial statements (GASB preferred) and preparing and presenting other financial reporting to senior management and a Board.
Knowledge of and experience in implementing new accounting standards and pronouncements; and knowledge of tax law and regulatory requirements in higher education preferred.
