The mission of the department is to support the instruction, research, patient care and public service missions of the University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth by providing fiscal leadership, safeguarding the University’s financial assets, and providing timely delivery of services to internal and external customers. Essential to achieving this mission is to provide efficient, effective, and professional services to the students, faculty, and staff of the University for appropriate financial functions; efficient and effective business processes; developing and maintaining robust costing systems and reporting tools to provide high-quality financial information that supports the University’s strategic management initiatives; a pleasant and productive work environment; maintaining sound financial records; and ensuring compliance with generally accepted accounting principles as well as relevant federal and state regulations.
Reporting directly to the Executive Vice President (EVP), Finance and Operations, the Vice President for Finance serves as a member of the senior management team. The Vice President adds to the informed perspective of the EVP and facilitates the implementation of activities between the EVP’s office and academic and administrative departments. The Vice President is responsible for leadership and oversight of all matters regarding strategic financial planning, resource use and development, including budget development, business reporting and systems, and policy and internal control. The Vice President provides leadership for the institution’s ongoing efforts to pursue innovative business solutions and to develop operating strategies that enhance revenue and efficiency and lead to more cost-effective administrative practices. The Vice President is a trusted advisor to the EVP and a collaborative colleague for his peers. The Vice President provides leadership and direction to the Senior Director, Financial Operations; Associate Director, Budgets; Director, Financial Systems; Senior Administrative Coordinator Additionally, the Vice President provides leadership and direction to the following positions via a dotted line: UNTS Associate Controller, Sr. Academic & Business Directors for TCOM, GSBS, SHP, and Pharmacy. Responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to:
Assist the EVP, in carrying out the mission and strategic goals of the institution in the area of finance. Responsible for development and attainment of short and long range operational plan and goals and objectives for finance in support of the institution’s strategic plan.
Provide leadership over all business and financial operations including internal controls, policy implementation, financial operations, budgeting, and contract administration.
Continuously improve financial systems and procedures so that financial records provide accurate and timely information in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
Oversee the preparation of timely and accurate financial statements and disclosures for internal and external users in accordance with legal requirements.
Analyze, forecast and evaluate spending levels relative to projected available resources.
Represent the institution at other external group meetings on matters related to higher education finance.
Develop and promote opportunities for innovation, professional growth and staff development.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Bachelor degree in finance/accounting required. Minimum of 10 years of financial management experience.
The preferred candidate will possess the following additional qualifications:
Master’s in Business Administration.
