Position Description: The Associate Vice President for Administration and Budget serves as the chief budget officer for the campus. The position analyzes, distributes, presents, and integrates information used for long-range and short-range strategic planning, decision-making and budgetary and financial policy formulation for CSULB. With five direct reports, the position also oversees Internal Audit, Public Records Act administration, and Whistleblower compliance. In addition, the incumbent oversees all areas of highly visible self-support operations within the Division, including Parking & Transportation and Support Services. Serves as a senior administrator within the Division and senior advisor to the Vice President for Administration and Finance.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: The ideal candidate will have a unique portfolio of budget, management, and business operations skills to manage a portfolio of diverse responsibilities as well as manage a team.
Working knowledge of complex financial analysis and all aspects of budget planning and development is essential.
Familiarity with the California higher education system preferred.
Along with budgetary responsibilities, the incumbent will have operational responsibilities in highly visible operations; therefore, hands on operations and customer service orientation skills are essential, as well as strong customer service skills and the ability to form positive working relationships.
Proven ability to collaborate within all levels of an organization.
Excellent management skills and the ability to plan, set priorities, and hold staff accountable to ensure multiple projects are completed in a timely manner.
Excellent team building skills.
Advanced knowledge of computerized accounting systems.
Excellent critical and strategic thinking and analytical skills.
Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in business or a related field, with an advanced degree in business, accounting, or finance preferred. 10 years of relevant progressively responsible experience in both operations and financial management with 5 years at a senior management level. Considerable supervisory and managerial experience. High level P&L experience strongly preferred.
