The Controller is responsible for providing strategic leadership and direction for the financial operations and accounting functions of the College, including budget development and planning, financial management and reporting, procurement, audits and year-end close processes. Governmental accounting, higher education, or not-for-profit experience required; Experience with Colleague information system preferred.
Education: Master’s Degree and/or CPA preferred. Bachelor’s Degree with major studies in accounting or related financial field from an accredited institution of higher education with seven years of progressively responsible experience required.
Experience: Minimum of seven years’ experience in the area of financial accounting, ledger maintenance, and financial reporting within a computerized environment requiring knowledge of computerized accounting systems and accounting vocabulary required. Five years of successful supervisory experience in the area of finance, accounting, accounts payable, student accounts and/or payroll.
Special Skills: Demonstrated proficiency in the use of personal computers and spreadsheet software with the ability to produce complex financial analysis and reporting; Excellent ability to communicate clearly in writing and orally; Strong customer service orientation and ability to work well with diverse internal and external constituents in a team-oriented environment; Ability to manage multiple projects and adhere to deadlines.
