Supporting the functions of the SAVP portfolio – compliance, procurement and payment services, auxiliary services, risk management, safety, internal audit, and conflict of interest – the Manager will hold responsibility for process improvement and implementation. The Manager will work with staff to identify opportunities to better use technology to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of operations. The Manager will also assist with the development of key data analytics that track progress of the units, as well as informing opportunities to drive activity and strategy across the functions. The Manager will assist with certain budgeting and financial processes, and may play a role in the segregation of duties across the various functions. The Manager may provide some local IT support, as needed, as well as being a conduit on behalf of the units back to the central IT organization.
Work with the various departments of the unit to identify process enhancement opportunities and workflow improvements.
Recommend to the SAVP and direct reports opportunities for improvement.
Lead and implement approved initiatives.
Technology Development and Application
Develop technology solutions using Peoplesoft, OnBase, Origami, and other platforms to support the workflow processes of the unit.
Apply technology tools to the work tasks and operations of the functional departments.
Oversee the use of new systems or tools in support of business functions.
Initially working with external consultants, develop automation tools (bots) to assist the unit with reduction of manual tasks.
Over time, develop the skillset and platform to develop such tools internally in the unit.
Outline business rules and audit processes for the application of automation tools.
Data and Analytics
Proactively work with the unit’s various data sources to develop meaningful analytics specific to the operations of the unit.
Build dashboards and reporting tools for the recurring use of such analytics.
Monitor data trends across the functional departments to identify risk areas and effectiveness of staff operations.
Finance and Budget
Assist with financial and budget management for the unit.
Building budget and forecasting tools to improve the monitoring of unit budgets.
Assist in approval workflow for financial transactions and ensure appropriate segregation of duties within the unit for certain financial tasks.
Working with the department business administrator, provide basic IT consulting support to the unit.
Act as a conduit to and maintain a strong partnership with NUIT.
Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree in a major such as business, data analytics, finance, or IT;
5+ years of relevant experience.

Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Strong technical knowledge of business processes and experience with process improvement efforts.
Evidenced coding or application development skills relevant to the systems or applications in use by the department.
Experience working with complex data sets and manipulating and presenting data in a useable way.
Expertise with core data and analytics applications, such as Excel, Access, Tableau.
Basic understanding of finance, budgeting, or accounting.
High-level project management skills.
Ability to management multiple projects or tasks at one time.
The ability to work independently with a diverse set of stakeholders.
A focus on customer service.
Strong desire to learn and take on additional responsibility.
Experience working with Northwestern.
Familiarity with the functions residing in the SAVP portfolio.
