| Luther College is seeking a full-time Assistant Controller. Assistant Controller applies Generally Accepted Account Principles (GAAP) and Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) guidelines in executing, analyzing, verifying, and reporting transactions of fiscal nature. Assistant Controller advises management regarding the effective use of resources and methods to maximize operational efficiency; interprets, monitors, and administers policies and procedures to ensure compliance; reconciles accounts, and formulates and recommends system and process changes through evaluation, analysis, and application of accounting theory; assists with establishing accounting procedures and internal controls to ensure compliance with accounting standards and best practices; conducts studies and submits recommendations for improving the organization’s accounting operation; assists with financial statement preparation and performs year-end adjustments and reporting required for the annual financial statement audit. Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field plus 4-5 years of accounting with managerial experience required. Non-profit accounting experience and CPA certificate is a plus. Must have extensive knowledge of computerized financial accounting systems. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is essential. Demonstrated oral and written communication skills are also required.
