Associate Vice President for Risk Management and Chief Risk Officer Opportunity
The University of Toledo is at a transformative juncture with an institutional goal of an organizational structure and deployment of resources that will provide a systematic and disciplined approach to promoting risk compliance and best practices across all levels of the University. The recent decision to combine the areas of Risk Management, Internal Audit, and Compliance under one role presents a unique opportunity for an exceptional leader. A national search is underway for the inaugural position of Associate Vice President for Risk Management/Chief Risk Officer (AVP/CRO). The Associate Vice President for Risk Management/Chief Risk Officer, reporting to the Executive Vice President for Finance and Administration/CFO, will establish, oversee, and manage the Enterprise Risk Management Advisory Committee including development of agenda, reports and presentations. In consultation with Senior Leaders, Vice Presidents, Deans, Directors and other administrative and academic leaders, the AVP/CRO will develop, maintain and report on a response plan for all risks and opportunities assigned to them to ensure effective risk management, policies, procedures and controls. As the responsible official for the University's Internal Controls and Enterprise Risk Management policy, the AVP/CRO will oversee its development and approval by the Senior Leadership and ultimately the President. Additionally, the AVP/CRO advises (i) the Board of Trustees (BOT) on updates pertaining to Internal Controls and Enterprise Risk Management Policy; (ii) develops and submits risk information for review on a regular basis to the Finance and Audit Committee of the BOT on changes in UToledo’s risk profile, risk tolerance, and risk capacity; (iii) collaborates with University personnel to assist with the University's Emergency Response planning; (iv) staff, chair, or serve on University committees as requested; and (iv) represent the University to external parties as appropriate.
