Emory University, an internationally recognized research university and one of the nation’s most comprehensive academic healthcare systems, welcomes applications and nominations for the position of Chief Compliance Officer (CCO). As a key partner in this newly defined role, the CCO will work in tandem with senior leaders to provide strategic direction and solution-oriented leadership in the development and execution of a coordinated risk-based compliance program. Building upon the strong foundation of the current Office of Compliance (OC), Emory’s next CCO will be a principled and dynamic thought leader and educator who will propel the university forward as a national front-runner in the application and oversight of compliance standards. Reporting to and working collaboratively with Emory’s Executive Vice President for Business and Administration and Chief Financial Officer, and the Chair of the Audit and Compliance Committee of the Board of Trustees, the CCO will lead the OC in proactively anticipating, equitably responding to, and judiciously minimizing all compliance risks. To do so effectively, the CCO is also accountable to and communicates directly with senior university executive leadership, including the Presidential Leadership Team.
The successful candidate will build trusting relationships across campus so that the OC is a respected resource, while empowering members of the Emory community with the right tools and education to carry out compliance locally. A demonstrated track record in compliance at a similarly complex institution including a working knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations impacting higher education, as well as a proven commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, is essential.
