Amherst College invites applications for the Endowment Administrator position. The Endowment Administrator position is a full-time, year-round position, job group and level SM-3.

Reporting to the Controller, this role is integral towards the management, control, accounting, reporting, and reconciliation of our endowment, restricted funds, other funds, gifts and cash position.
This role also takes appropriate actions to support a diverse workforce and participates in the College's efforts to create a respectful, inclusive, and welcoming work environment.
Summary of Duties and Responsibilities: Accounting and Analysis
Administer the processes and controls to ensure accurate accounting and reporting of the College's endowment funds, other investments, and cash
Administer, analyze and review spending within the College's restricted funds to ensure adherence to restrictions from donors
Establish monthly procedures and prepare complete and accurate reconciliations between actual balances and the general ledger for numerous investment funds, including those held with third parties, endowment cash, etc.
Ensure process and controls are in place over the accounting processes of the College (excluding grant accounting)
Provide reports and analysis as necessary to colleagues on a direct basis, including the monthly endowment share values and restrictions/expenditures on various funds
Administration of Unitrusts, Pooled Funds, Annuities
Maintain detailed data regarding donated funds within internally managed life trusts ("in-house")
Record all monthly activity including income/payments/additions/liquidations
Identify and report tax information as necessary including the preparation of certain returns for in-house trusts
Maintain spreadsheet for all activity to properly record split between Amherst/Folger/Unitrusts
Serve as the point of contact for SSGA for accounting/investment questions.
Assistance to Controller
Assist with the annual completion and closure of the general ledger and the independent audit of financial statements
Oversight of Interest/Principal Payment
Responsible for the oversight of monthly College bond interest payments and semiannual principal payments

5 years of related experience in higher education or industry
Strong financial acumen
Previous supervisory experience with knowledge of trends in personnel and operations management
Strong written and verbal communication, time management, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office
Experience working with a diverse community
Bachelor's Degree, or in lieu of a degree, 5 years of related experience
Knowledge and experience with Workday ERP Finance and Investments Modules
