The Johns Hopkins University, one of the world's premier teaching, research, and patient care institutions, is seeking candidates for the position of Director, Public Markets within its Investment Office, reporting directly to the Managing Director in the Markets and Risk group. The Investment Office has responsibility for investing the endowments for the university, Johns Hopkins Hospital, and other related endowed entities totaling about $8 billion, among many other assets.

The Director, Public Markets will be an integral member of the Investment Office by taking on important investment responsibilities spanning the endowment and related portfolios. Under the supervision of the Managing Director of Markets and Risk, the Director will take a leadership role implementing strategic, thematic, and tactical asset allocation decisions. Primary responsibilities include:
Primary relationship manager for external research providers, investment banks, and other capital markets experts
Driving the investment research process to source and generate investable asset allocation ideas for the portfolios.
Conduct primary research and lead a small team of research analysts to support investment ideas and promote rigorous open debate amongst the team.
The successful candidate will have a demonstrated record of achievement at top-tier institutions and have training and work experience in economics and finance. The candidate should possess an excellent understanding of macroeconomics, asset allocation and portfolio management in the context of an investment organization. Personality fit within a dynamic team is essential. The ideal candidate should be enterprising, outgoing, and enjoy teamwork as well as lively debates.
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree required, five to ten years work experience in investment management. Master's degree, CFA, and/or MBA strongly preferred. Managerial experience strongly preferred.
