The State University of New York College of Optometry is seeking an individual to fill the essential position in its business office responsible for purchasing and procurement, including contracting and related compliance issues.  

 

Reporting to the Associate VP for Administration, the individual will be responsible for the daily procurement and vendor payment activities of the College and related entities such as the Research Foundation of SUNY, including creation of Request for Proposals, Invitations to Bids and solicitations and advertisements related to them.

 

In addition, the individual will be responsible for contract creation and maintenance, coordinating with user departments so that contracts are executed properly and timely in accordance with State and other requirements; monitoring and keeping current on MWBE procurements (as the MWBE coordinator and liaison), as well as other State or SUNY policies (such as Project Sunlight).  

 

Also, the candidate will review staff travel vouchers prior to payment to ensure compliance with the NY State Travel guidelines or Research Foundation travel guidelines as appropriate.

 

The candidate will distribute weekly deposits of revenue generated by the library café.

 

The successful candidate will serve as chair of the College’s Internal Control and Enterprise Risk Management committee, developing monthly meeting agendas and running the meeting.  

 

The candidate will serve on the managed print initiative implementation team.

 

The individual will supervise a small office and is also expected to be hands-on operationally, when needed.
