Job Description:
BASIC FUNCTION:
Provides the University with timely and accurate financial and budgetary information while maintaining the integrity and accuracy of the data processing system on which this information resides. As a member of the University's financial leadership team, participates in the design and implementation of strategic financial plan/goals. In addition, provides fiduciary oversight for the assets of the University. Further, supervises the daily operations of the Business Office, Payroll Office, and Mail Services while providing data support to all Business Office employees.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supervises the Business Office, to include student receivables, accounts payable, cash receipts, other receivables, student loans, general ledger, etc.
- Supervises the functioning of the Payroll, Purchasing, Mailroom Offices.
- Responsible for all financial and budgetary reporting.
- Participates in long range financial planning and goal setting for the University.
- Responsible for establishing and implementing strategic financial services for all University constituencies (faculty/ staff & student related).
- Develops and implements financial models that support the overall strategic mission of the University.
- Responsible for day to day treasury management and cash flow reporting.
- Responsible for all federal government grant reporting.
- Responsible for all federal and state tax reporting (income tax, 1099, etc)

Bank of America - treasury management
RICOH - University print management
Pitney Bowes - mailroom equipment leasing
JP Morgan Chase - pcard agreement
Energy Product procurement - natural gas & electricity
Nelnet - student tuition collections - Responsible for determining the University student grant budgets, restricted and endowed scholarship budgets, the Perkins and Nursing Loan allocations, the University work-study budgets and all related tuition discount reporting.
- Supervises for all federal Title IV and HHS reporting relating to student financial aid and nursing loan program.
- Supervises and administers all financial data relating to the Business Office.
- Provides data information support to Business Office personnel.
- Handles student/parent communications regarding student balance, alternative payment plans, and freshman orientation.
- Submits annual budget for all lease and debt service, fringe benefits, Business Office and general institutional type expenditures.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensures correct accounting, auditing, and budgetary procedures are applied and followed.
- Assists the Vice President for Administration and CFO in various projects of a financial nature such as major capital financing, strategic long term financial planning, and auxiliary revenue generation (conference center).
- Oversight of all financial policies with respect to creation and enforcement.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the VP for Administration and CFO.

Job Requirements:
A Bachelor's degree in business administration or related field, and a minimum of five years managerial higher education finance or related experience. CPA designation preferred. Extensive personal computer, PC-based accounting system knowledge, printers, MS Office software, non profit accounting software and Windows operating software knowledge are required. Must possess strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills. Must be able to organize, coordinate, and supervise support staff and work as part of an office team. Ability to interpret institution policies, plans, objectives, rules and regulations, and communicate the interpretation to subordinates and others is required. Incumbent must be able to prepare and deliver oral presentations before small, medium, and large groups of people. Ability to speak effectively before faculty and administrative staff members on assigned work and related subjects is required. Must be able to analyze complex financial information. Must be able to handle difficult clients/students. Confidentiality is of the utmost importance.
This position involves traveling throughout the University and could, on occasion, require bending, reaching, ascending and descending stairs, kneeling, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, talking and hearing.
