Georgetown College is currently seeking applicants for a full-time Controller. This position reports directly to the Vice President of Administration and Finance with a primary function to oversee audits, budgets, investments, external reporting and to prepare management financial analyses for the executive cabinet.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Establish, or recommend to management, major economic strategies, objectives, and policies for the College.
- Arrange for audits of the College's accounts, including preparation of the financial statements.
- Account for activity and prepare reports regarding Endowment, Annuity, Unitrust and other investments. Monitor restricted accounts for compliance with the College’s policies.
- Responsible for the calculation of endowed and non-endowed scholarship allocations.
- Oversee payroll, accounts payable, fixed assets, general ledger accounting and review bank reconciliations.
- Oversee grant accounting in the general ledger, assist with grant reporting as necessary and monitor grant activity for compliance with the College’s policies.
- Responsible for the preparation of College’s Form 990.
- Responsible for monitoring and improving internal controls.
- Prepare reports for the Executive / Finance Committee of the board and the Investment Committee of the Board.
- Prepare monthly reports which summarize and forecast business activity and financial position in areas of income, expenses, and earnings based on past, present, and expected operations.
- Provide management with timely reviews of the College’s financial status and progress in its various programs and activities.
- Oversee compliance with College’s budget, including review of monthly budget variance reports, and request budgets adjustments from other departments as necessary. Advise management on desirable operational adjustments due to tax code revisions.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Directly supervises the following positions: Payroll Coordinator, Accounts Payable Clerk, Staff Accountant. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Education and / or Experience -- Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) or four to ten years related experience as a Controller, Assistant Controller or in public accounting; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Higher Education / Not for Profit experience is desirable.
- Communication / Language -- Requires effective oral and written communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from outside vendors, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
- Mathematical -- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
- Reasoning -- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
- Certificates, Licenses, Registrations -- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is preferred.
- Computer Literacy / General Office Equipment – Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel. Word, Outlook), CARS / Jenzabar System, Internet and Paycom preferred.
