Responsible for overseeing the development of the university's $2 billion operating budget in compliance with all federal, state, or other regulations. The position is responsible for planning, developing, and implementing policies and processes supporting the development and administration of the university budget and effective stewardship of the university's financial resources. The position reports to the Senior Associate Vice President for Financial Affairs in the Administration and Finance Division.
Oversees the planning, development, and administration of the university's annual budget and its approval by the University Board of Trustees in compliance with board procedures and deadlines requiring current knowledge of reporting and system requirements mandated by the legislature and Board of Governors.
Responsible for providing projections and assumptions necessary for colleges and divisions in their preparation of individual annual plans. Monitors the budget throughout the fiscal year, analyzes causes of unexpected budget variances, and of budget reports/projections to guide and support effective fiscal stewardship by university leadership.
Oversees the development of budget-related training for campus personnel to enhance understanding and fiscal management, including the provision of timely content for the department website and other communication strategies.
Leads the Budget Planning and Analysis office in order to effectively provide critical services. Responsible for the development of annual work plans and members of staff.
Lead efforts to continue the development of comprehensive multi-year financial plans and key budget dashboards for university leadership and the Board of Trustees.
Serves as a strategic advisor to Associate Vice President for Financial Affairs and offers recommendations related to formulating and administering university budgets.
Staff the University Budget Committee; assists in the preparation of agendas and materials for the committee.
Serves as liaison between the university and the Board of Governors and other state agencies/departments and other organizations on budgetary matters.
Oversees content of budget office website and other resources to assist fiscal planning and reporting across the university.
Represents the university on SUS or state committees, and attends meetings and conferences as appropriate.
Bachelor's or Master's degree and 12+ years of relevant experience with at least 5+ years of leadership experience.
Prefer experience in leading change in large R1 higher education institution
