The HR Business Support Audit Analyst demonstrates effective problem-solving skills to resolve issues from reviewing various audit reports related to an employee’s job data.
This role is analytical in nature and the Audit Analyst must be able to exhibit enhanced attention to detail and understand how the HR system works from the backend, how one field connects to another field to process exception reports and audits. Since this role has systems integration responsibility it will require expert communication skills to successfully partner with multiple levels of position and authority not only within Michigan Medicine Human Resources, but with our Campus Partners in HRRIS, ITS and Payroll.
A portion of this role also supports Tier III end-user support and will provide to the General HR Business Support team with other administrative HR tasks such as credit for prior years, file reviews. Employees in this role utilize multiple knowledge bases and case management tools to assist customers with human resources inquiries working within the Michigan Medicine Human Resources Solution Center (HRSC).
The primary duties of this position are to provide the following services, under the general direction of the HRSC Leads and Manager:
Exception Processing and Auditing –
- Demonstrate analytical and creative problem solving when working suspense, processing exceptions, and resolving errors by meeting various cut-offs and ensuring data integrity. (i.e.: audit queries, suspense reports, monthly reports, work lists, issue resolution, contract rate audits, PMOD audits, termination, etc.)
Alternate Processing –
- Operate with efficiency and effectiveness using strong analytical skills, flexibility, and innovation when employing alternative methods for processing transactions that result in enhanced service delivery for customers. (i.e., spreadsheet processing, batch processing)
Customer Support (Tier III) –
- Demonstrate effective and advanced problem solving by having the ability to use acquired knowledge and procedures of HR Records, transactions and system integration points relating to the processes to collaborate with ITS and other HRRIS employees providing application support, problem analysis/resolution and end user support.
General HR Business Support -
- Listen to issues and ask probing questions to assist in interpreting University HR/Union Contract policies/procedures, providing recommendations and answer/resolve concerns.
- In relation to audits, it is essential to be knowledgeable and familiar with the multiple bargained for contracts related to wages to correctly apply contract rates for anniversary, step increases, etc.
- Document inquiries and outcomes within the center’s case management software application.
- Develop human resources solutions by collecting and analyzing information, recommending courses of action.
- Using judgment, escalate or resolve employee or manager concerns as appropriate
- Partner with HR Business Partners and/or Networks of Expertise areas to resolve issues.
- Manages Michigan Medicine’s Reinstatement/Credit for Prior Years of Service requests
- Conduct personnel file reviews and respond to managers with summary.
- Will provide back-up support with coverage of the front-desk and distribution of MM HR office mail
- Identifies issues using critical thinking and demonstrates sound judgement when making recommendations.
Education and Experience:
Requires a High School Diploma or GED with at least 5 years of experience. Requires 2 years of experience working with HRIS systems.
- Proven ability to work efficiently and effectively delivering high quality customer service
- Proven ability to multitask and work efficiently and effectively while working in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to meet deadlines
- Ability to demonstrate independence, and flexibility in supporting multiple units, within a high-volume work environment.
- Proficient in standard office computer skills (Microsoft Office 365, Google, Drop Box)
- Effective communication skills, including personable phone skills, active listening skills and strong written communication skills.
- Exceptional analytical skills
- Demonstrated ability to work well within a diverse, team environment.
- General knowledge of HR practices, procedures, and policies; as well as employment and labor laws
- Experience using HRIS systems, PeopleSoft preferred
