Dartmouth College seeks an accomplished leader and subject-matter expert for the role of Assistant Vice President for Finance and Treasury Management (AVP). Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the AVP will be a member of the Office of Finance senior leadership team and will provide new leadership in a broadly defined treasury position, collaborating with colleagues across the College to develop and review the strategic financial plans, policies, and business processes needed to ensure that Dartmouth remains the financially strong world-class institution.
The AVP leads, directs, and manages the planning, oversight, compliance, internal control, and analysis functions central to Dartmouth’s policies and procedures, for two departments within F&A: Treasury and Procurement Services. Treasury includes the management of debt, working capital, cash, and short-term investments, and capital funding programs and reserves. Procurement Services is responsible for the performance of the central procurement function, including procurement operations, inventory operations, contracts and strategic sourcing, fixed assets, and the disposal or reuse of surplus property.
The AVP is responsible for the financial aspects of the administration, analysis, forecasting, and reporting for approximately $800 million in working capital and short-term investments, although the actual investment of the funds will be the responsibility of the Investment Office; $1 billion of debt; $150 million of capital reserves as well as the Infrastructure Renewal Fund currently estimated to be $40 million annually, although the determination of spending priorities will be the responsibility of Campus Services; and the structure and pricing of liquidity facilities, including an authorized $150 million commercial paper program and a $350 million line of credit program. The AVP supports the EVP and the CFO in the preparation and presentation of materials for the Resources of the Board of Trustees.
The successful candidate will have a minimum of ten years of relevant experience in a related field (investments, treasury, debt management, corporate finance) with a high degree of autonomy along with a minimum of 7 years in a management position. A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Financial Management, or equivalent is required as is an MBA, CPA, or CTP.
