UW-Madison's Office of Risk Management is recruiting a Property Risk Manager to join its team of energetic, collaborative risk professionals. This high-profile position provides the successful candidate with an exciting opportunity to lead UW-Madison's property risk management program, including the administration, management and resolution of property damage claims impacting campus departments and building facilities. The Property Risk Manager will provide program oversight and guidance to the Risk Management Specialist I position to ensure efficient administration of property damage claims. The successful candidate will also work collaboratively with key campus stakeholders and departmental leadership in identifying, designing, and implementing property risk control initiatives for campus.
As a member of the Office of Risk Management's team of risk professionals, the Property Risk Manager will work collaboratively with Facilities, Planning and Maintenance staff, campus departmental staff, and faculty members to analyze and evaluate information related to property damage/loss events; actively manage property insurance claims to resolution; evaluate risk-related activities and respond to risk-related questions, requests, and investigations. In addition, the Property Risk Manager will also be a key participant in the Office of Risk Management's delivery of risk-related education and training to the UW-Madison campus community.
Among the varied activities and responsibilities of the position, the Property Risk Manager will participate in physical inspection of campus facilities to identify and assess property risk exposures, providing recommendations to mitigate UW- Madison's risk exposure to property damage losses. The Property Risk Manager will also enter and validate property claims information into the Riskonnect claims database; analyze property claims data; and manage/update property- related risk and claims processing information presented on Risk Management's website. The position will also assist in performing financial accounting transactions necessary to facilitate the distribution of property claims recovery proceeds to campus departments sustaining financial loss.
Responsibilities:
Implements and administers risk management program functions and services and contributes to the achievement of program goals. Provides professional expertise in the risk management process, provides consultations, designs and implements initiatives and solutions, analyzes data, and develops and executes risk-related trainings and educational programs.
25% Implements and administers major risk management program functions such as property, liability, auto, and/or worker's compensation
10% Provides professional expertise in the identification, assessment, mitigation, control, and monitoring of risks
10% Accomplishes identification and analysis of risk-related issues, responds to risk-related inquiries, and assists in the operational functions of investigations
10% Analyzes and evaluates information obtained from risk-related investigations
10% Develops final recommendations and implements solutions for risk-related issues and events, and audits the impact of proposed solutions and resolutions
10% Conducts data analytics and develops associated professional reports
5% Designs, develops, and executes risk-related trainings and educational programs
10% Leads the development, implementation, administration, management and process improvement initiatives for UW-Madison's Self-Funded Property Program.
5% Provides Property risk exposure analysis, consultation and claims processing instruction, guidance and direction to a wide variety of campus constituents.
5% Provides onsite inspection of property damage occurrences impacting UW-Madison campus buildings, field stations and other locations in Wisconsin.
Required: - 4-7 years of experience or demonstrated interest in property damage claims administration and/or risk management processes. - Effective written and verbal communication skills and ability to communicate professionally and effectively with individuals at all levels within and outside of the organization. - Demonstrated attention to detail and accuracy. - Proficiency with computer systems, including Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and information management databases. - Ability to provide on-site physical inspection of property damage occurrences impacting UW-Madison campus buildings, field stations and other locations in Wisconsin.
Preferred: - Knowledge, understanding and experience with property damage claims handling and administrative processes for commercially insured or self-insured property risks. - Experience administering and successfully resolving large, complex property damage claims. - Ability and willingness to work independently and effectively in a self-directed manner, under general supervision. - Ability to adapt to a changing environment while handling multiple tasks and responsibilities. - Demonstrated ability to problem solve through exercising good, independent judgment. - Analytical and investigative skills. - Experience utilizing risk management/insurance claims databases, such as Riskonnect or similar. - Bachelor's degree, ARM and/or CPCU designation
