Brief Summary of Work for this Position This Senior Financial Analyst position will provide data, analysis, reports and make recommendations to senior level management. The Senior Financial Analyst is responsible for creating university financial reports and supporting the Business Affairs Division and the university with financial reporting and analysis. The position must apply knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) as well as knowledge of university, state and federal regulations to determine viability of financial scenarios. Additionally, the position must identify trends and prepare solutions to mitigate risks. Analysis requires the compilation of student, HR, and finance data to best represent the financial position of the university. This work requires utilizing data reported by Institutional Research and Planning to develop financial reports for senior management.
This position is eligible for remote work but will principally employ individuals who reside within or in close proximity to the State of North Carolina.
The recruitment range for this position is $77,000 – $91,500.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements A Master’s degree and 2-4 yrs related experience or a Bachelor’s degree and 3-5 yrs experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Demonstrated high level experience with Tableau analytics tool.
Demonstrated ability in working with complex data sets from multiple data sources.
Comprehensive knowledge of UNCW’s financial and non-financial (HR, Student, Enrollment etc.) databases.
Detailed understanding of various funding models in higher education in support of requirement analysis Historical knowledge of changes to UNCW’s detail accounting treatment of various key data elements.
Ability to normalize multi-year data for changes in accounting treatment and/or data structures.
Demonstrated experience effectively developing summarized reports for senior leadership.
SSRS – Server Reporting Services Web Reports experience.
Experience working with an ERP system.
Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit The Finance team within the Division of Business Affairs supports the University’s mission, strategic vision, goals, and objectives by providing key financial services efficiently and effectively. The Finance team provides financial services directly to students and the campus community. Units within Finance include the Controller’s Office, the Office of Budget, Planning, and Analysis, Purchasing Services, Student Accounts and Cashiers, and Financial Systems.
The Office of Budget, Planning, and Analysis reside within the Finance section of the Division of Business Affairs. It is responsible for providing university financial reports, projections, analysis, and administering all budgeting functions related to the operation of UNCW. The Office of Budget, Planning, and Analysis are responsible for maintaining fiscal integrity through the development and administration of financial and budgetary control functions. The Office of Budget, Planning, and Analysis work together with the Controller’s Office and other areas within Finance to provide accurate and complete financial data to university management and state and federal agencies.
