Job Description The Project Manager, Audit and Advisory Services is a key member of the Internal Audit and Advisory Services team at Boston University. This client-facing position reports to the Manager, Audit and Advisory Services, and is responsible for defining, planning, and executing audit project work across University functions and assessing compliance with applicable standards and guidelines and sufficiency of internal controls. The ideal candidate has strong understanding of risk and controls and is an independent, proactive, self-starter with a strong work ethic, a high degree of motivation, and the ability to contribute to a positive team attitude with proven leadership and integrity. This role will provide exposure to a variety of areas in a University setting, including administration, research, academics, operations, and IT.
Major duties of this position include:
Gathers and analyzes data to draw meaningful conclusions, assess and evaluate internal controls, and assist in solving complex issues.
Develops and executes project/audit plans that identify areas of risk, relevant controls, and testing approaches.
Plans and implements departmental process improvement opportunities using technology, data analytics, and best practices.
Required Skills
Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, or related field.
3-5 years of experience in in consulting, auditing, business process improvement, or similar role.
Strong project management skills.
Ability to effectively manage multiple projects concurrently and develop audit programs and procedures without established guidance.
Strong understanding of operational, financial and compliance related risks and controls.
Ability to work optimally and collaboratively in a small, collegial, cross-functional team environment.
Ability to present views effectively, persuasively, and with appropriate conviction to stakeholders and senior leadership.
Strong analytical/quantitative skills.
Advanced experience in analyzing data and project management across a broad range of topics and scope of responsibility.
Advanced oral and written communication skills, with the proven ability to present and explain complex information and suggest process improvements to diverse audiences.
Preferred Skills:
Master's degree in Project Management, Business, Institutional Risk Management, or related field.
Professional certification (CPA, CIA, Six Sigma).
Experience in audit/internal audit.
Experience with research, grant and contract compliance.
