Departmental Overview
The Central Evaluation Unit (CEU) resides in the Office of the Registrar and is responsible for processing transfer credit (exams and courses), facilitating and maintaining articulation agreements with the California Community Colleges, and developing and maintaining the degree audit requirement templates for all undergraduate colleges, majors and minors.
One of the central objectives of the unit is to serve undergraduate students and advising units in leveraging the Student Information System's enterprise application (currently PeopleSoft Campus Solutions) and associated applications in the end-to-end process for evaluation, tracking, and reporting of course work and exams toward degree completion and graduation verification.
The Central Evaluation Unit works closely with the Student Information Systems department and relies heavily on collaborative efforts among technical and functional experts. To ensure the business processes align with campus policies and regulations, the unit also partners with the Academic Senate, Office of Undergraduate Admissions and the undergraduate deans, advising units directors, and departmental advising staff.
The primary role of the Degree Audit Specialist within the CEU is to apply advanced expertise with a high degree of autonomy in the unit's workflow for maintaining the campus' undergraduate degree audit known as the Academic Progress Report (APR). This work includes analyzing university, campus, and college policies/regulations guiding degree requirements toward the goal of best capturing and tracking within the auditing system; implementing and maintaining programmatic responsibility for addressing and troubleshooting adviser and student inquiries regarding the APR; and developing content for training new and continuing college and departmental staff users. In executing this work, the Degree Audit Specialist will work closely with the CEU Systems Administrator to maintain excellence in our audit programming and services, as well as utilizing technical skills in baseline programming (e.g. update the APR to edit course options, enter requirement exceptions, correct errors).
This position will also establish programmatic and baseline technical support to the Articulation Officer by overseeing the development of a departmental workflow for the review, approval, and publication (ASSIST.org) of CA Community College articulation agreements, and support the annual initial transfer credit evaluation by evaluating and posting transfer credit for newly admitted students.

Recommends and implements internal procedures to ensure compliance and accurate service delivery.

Serves as a member of campuswide project teams, providing functional specialized knowledge to facilitate student and adviser use of audit system.

Identifies and updates database elements, queries, and reports in Campus Solutions and ASSIST.org needed to monitor complex programs.
Analyzes reports to resolve programming errors.

Education/Training:
Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
Under California law, the University of California, Berkeley is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role and should not offer a salary outside of the range posted in this job announcement. This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, analysis of internal equity, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the range for a position. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience.
The budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is $89,350.00 - $104,400.00
This is a 100% full-time (40 hours per week), career position that is eligible for full UC benefits.
This position is exempt and paid monthly.
This is a hybrid position, eligible for 60% remote capability.
