To work as a team member to facilitate the transfer articulation process for new, current and prospective students; become a specialist in utilizing the degree evaluation system; and assist students, faculty, staff and others in interpreting transfer credit and degree audit tools.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Build and maintain transfer equivalency Banner database. This involves SOABGTA, SHATGRD, SHATATC, SHATATR.
Work directly with faculty and staff to identify course equivalencies from transfer institutions and maintain these on a regular basis.
Input data from transcripts for new and current students into Banner. Communicate with students regarding these updates. This involves SHATRNS, SHATAEQ and SHRTAEQ.
Prepare new transfer students for academic advising via Welcome Desk appointments.
Use Degree Evaluation (CAPP) system regularly when posting transfer credits as a way to check courses, equivalencies, duplicates and more. Process substitutions, waivers and adjustments. This involves SMASADJ, SMASARA, SMASPRG, SMAPROG and SMAAREA.
Interact daily with students and advisors regarding inquiries about course equivalencies, core curriculum fulfillment and understanding Degree Evaluation.
Employ the frequent use of advisor notes; effective record keeping is essential.
Scan, upload and index documents into BDMS and maintain appropriate tracking.
Create new and update current transfer documents. Work with Detroit Mercy departments and other institutions in this process. These documents include Transfer Guides, Nursing/Dental Hygiene Transfer Table, AP, IB, etc. Assist with coordination of Articulation Agreements.
Work with Office of Admissions frequently.
Support overall Office of the Registrar.
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree.
Six months to two years of similar or related experience.
A willingness and ability to learn new Banner processes is essential.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Banner Student Lookup and Application Navigator, specifically relating to this position, is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Requires great attention to detail.
Strong communication, interpersonal and writing skills are also necessary.
Ability to prioritize and organize tasks.
Comfortable working closely with others, including diverse populations.
Desire to help students and positively promote the University.
Physical Requirements
Job may require lifting light weight objects (1 to 10 pounds) with no repetitive bending or stooping. Occasionally lift average weight objects (1 to 10 pounds).
Work Environment
Regular exposure to favorable conditions such as those found in a normal office.
